Future of Los Gatos

Marico Sayoc

Growing up in a Navy family, Marico traveled extensively before settling in Los Gatos.

She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a BS in environmental sciences, and then received a fellowship to Duke University, where she earned her master’s degree in environmental management, water and air resources. As part of her graduate studies, she spent a year as a Fellow at the H. John Heinz III Center for Science, Economics and the Environment in Washington, D. C. She began her career in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of International Affairs, after which she went into program management for the Natural Resources Defense Council.

Since moving back to Los Gatos, Marico participated in the Leadership Los Gatos program and a number of other town and community programs and committees, as well volunteering for school projects. She spent eight years on the planning commission before deciding to run for her council seat.

She and her husband, Jeff, have two children, Quincy, a fourth grader at Blossom Hill School, and Isabella, a seventh grader at Fisher Middle School.
