Barry Minkin, futurist, professional speaker, bestselling author and global management consultant, has been featured on Larry King Live, Tech-Nation, Smart Money, Money Talk, Everybody's Business, The Paula Poundstone Show and The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Fortune and United Airlines Hemisphere. With over 35 years as a global management consultant, including 10 years with Stanford Research Institute (now SRI International), Barry Minkin has consulted with scores of Fortune 500 and growth companies across most industry sectors, as well as government and various trade associations. Barry Minkin's insights into the company specific factors that determine success in the real world have allowed him to accurately develop market forecasts and strategies for his clients.

As his global reputation for accurate forecasting grew, he was asked to publish his forecasts in the Corporate Times in Silicon Valley. Barry Minkin’s regular monthly column contained dozens of specific predictions. For example, he was the first person to predict the decline of the US manufacturing sector in the 1970's, the rise of gold in the 1980's as well as predicting the success of Trivial Pursuit before the first game was sold in the United States.

Hundreds of his accurate published predictions can be found in his best-selling bookFuture in Sight – 100 Trends, Implications & Predictions That Will Most Impact Business Into The 21st Century (Simon and Schuster) provides an amazing record of hundreds of his accurate predictions. The book received critical acclaim and sold very well globally. His book Econoquake (Simon & Schuster) and Ten Great Lies That Threaten Western Civilization (Insight Press) received excellent reviews. His latest book The Great Unraveling – How to Survive and Prosper in the Coming Global Depression (Insight Press) provides a unique real world understanding of the global economy and provides practical advice for businesses, investors, job seekers government and individuals to survive and prosper in the tough times ahead. 20/20 Future Vision is due out in 2014.

Barry Minkin was Professor of: Advanced Marketing and Industry Strategy, Executive MBA Program, St. Mary’s College, a Lecturer in Strategic Planning, University of California at Berkeley, and Marketing Professor at Canada College. He holds an MBA degree from the Bernard Baruch School of the City University of New York. He has received numerous awards, including the American Society for Training and Development Achievement Award, and a Presidential Citation for Innovative Employment Strategies.

Rotarians are encouraged to bring a guest. Join us 5pm Tuesday Aug. 21st in Oak Meadow park for a delicious BBQ. Ride the carousel, train, while meeting and mingling together.

Refugee Crisis

Mindy Berkowitz has been Executive Director of Jewish Family Services of Silicon Valley (JFS SV) since 2003 – and still claims it’s the best job she ever had. Mindy earned a BA in Sociology and Certificate in Women’s Studies from Rutgers University, prior to receiving a Masters in Jewish Communal Service from Hebrew Union College and a Masters in Social Work from Washington University. Before working at JFS SV, Mindy enjoyed an extensive nonprofit management career in mental health, camping and youth services. Mindy lives with her husband, Rabbi Allan Berkowitz in San Jose, CA. Mindy and Allan have four children and one grandson.

Refugee Crisis:  JFS SV protects and supports refugees who have experienced persecution due to their religion, ethnicity, political expression or sexual orientation. They come from Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Russia, other eastern European countries and various countries throughout Africa. The people we help are fleeing dire and often violent circumstances.

As the second largest refugee resettlement agency in Santa Clara County, JFS SV serves 200+ refugees annually with resettlement, pro-bono legal immigration clinic, vocational English training, job search assistance, case management, and emergency food assistance. Our services to refugees have been funded through HIAS, County of Santa Clara, United Way Silicon Valley, Silicon Valley Community Foundation, other foundations and generous individuals.
