Learning For Action: Climate Change

Carl is an ex-Apple, ex-Tesla, mechanical engineer who is currently a consultant and advisor. At Apple, he applied his skills to thermal systems, accessories, iMac, and iPad. Carl grew the iPad product line and team as Director of iPad Product Design. In 2017, he joined Tesla as Senior Director of Energy Products Engineering. For 4 years, he led the organization to design, manufacture, and launch Powerwall, Megapack, and Solar Roof. Carl stepped in to lead Residential Solar operations in 2020, delivering significant growth despite the COVID-19 operations impact. His responsibilities included all solar installations, sales, service, and the Tesla Energy P&L. After leaving Tesla, Carl began a deeper exploration of climate. He took Terra.do’s “ Learning For Action: Climate Change” course and then later took on a role as an instructor. He and his wife, Adele, a software engineer, run a consulting firm. They live in Los Gatos with their two children and are active at the local schools.
