FIRST robotics is an International Robotics competition co-founded by Dean Kamen, the inventor of the Segway, as a way to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators.  Three time COMPASS award winner, Anh-Quan Nguyen, shares his experiences coaching and mentoring the award-winning Saratoga High School Mechanical Science and Engineering Team (MSET Fish) as well as local Lego robotics teams.  Dr. Nguyen has also brought his team with him to share their accomplishments, not only in the field of robotics but in their outreach initiatives in STEM advocacy, not only in their local community but nationally and internationally. The team includes: Druthi Palle ,Mahati Kotamraju, Naveed Kasnavi, Sajiv Shah.

Dr. Nguyen has been a Cardiologist at Heart Associates of Northern California for almost 15 years.  He started his medical career at UC Berkeley (1993-1997)where he majored in Molecular and Cell Biology and Psychology. He went to medical school at UC Irvine (1997-2001) and did his residency at the Mayo Clinic (2001-2004).
