  • Henry V. shared his recent African safari trip, also planned by Travel Advisors, and donated $100 to the General Fund in appreciation for not being eaten.
  • Ed S. shared his recent Mediterranean cruise and donated $100 for the free advertising received today.
  • Leroy N. returned after a long absence due to illness and 2 major surgeries. He received a warm reception, and donated $100 each for his 3 children who “really stepped up” and helped him through his recovery. He said life was about friends, family, love, and Los Gatos Rotary.
  • Canan S. announced she attended her son’s entry ceremony into the Marines, with a large sign and balloon seen for miles around. She sent letters every day during training. He will spend a month in San Diego, 1 yr in Texas, and 5 years in the Marines. She donated $100.

President Andrew showed a humorous montage of running scenes from movies, to kick off the Great Race planning.

Todd T. introduced the Great Race Presenting Sponsor The Sereno Group, represented by CT Harris and Amy H. This is the 19th consecutive year of sponsorship and the sponsor check was presented. A big thank you to all our sponsors, who together have donated over $33,000 to this event. This is an important community event and is also a sanctioned race this year, with many elite runners competing for prize money.

Mike N. coordinated the T shirts, and thanked Rami W. for the logo design which incorporates the Rotary International theme.

The various teams then broke out to discuss details for race day. Mike distributed an important list of emergency/issue phone numbers.
