Let’s celebrate the heart of Rotary- the spirit of service. Churchill said

Polio Plus
Doug Brent reminded the club of the importance of our Rotary commitment to End Polio Now. There is a $100 match for all first time donors who give $100 or more, so be sure to make your donation by emailing Marty Fishman if you haven’t yet indicated your pledge on the sheets passed around the meetings.
Carol Goedde gave her Blue Badge Bio
- Carol presented along with her twin sister, Mary Lynn. They grew up in Fontana, California and did everything together and dressed alike all through high school.
- They then attended Berkeley, Davis, Pasadena City College— always together until Carol went on to finish school at San Diego State by herself.
- She married Bruce in 1970. He came with four children, so she raised four step children and has four grandkids and seven great grandchildren. Bruce passed away a few years ago.
- Carol taught elementary school for 36 years. She loves Dixieland jazz, and since the 70s has attended festivals and does the second-line parades along with her sister. They call themselves the Ambassadors of Fun.
- Carol volunteers at a thrift store, at Hunger at Home, she plays ukulele at senior homes, and works at the San Jose Rose Garden, along with many other rotary projects over the years.
- She enjoys ballroom dancing and traveling in her RV.
- She loves Rotary- her twin got her into it and they both have been very involved for many years. She is moving her membership from San Jose Rotary to here.

Debbie Johnson also gave her Blue Badge Bio
- Debbie was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, but grew up in Portland Oregon.
- She was very sporty, running cross country and track. She still enjoys running, hiking, and swimming. She met her husband Paul Johnson at BYU. He did a church service mission in Germany and she did one in Washington DC. She then got a degree in child development.
- She has three kids and considers motherhood to be her greatest life achievement. She loved helping her kids learn and achieve and find joy in life. Debbie was K-2 teacher for Union and Saratoga School Districts. She says kids really know how to love unconditionally and how to forgive quickly. Now she is a bubba (grandmother) and loves that too.
- Four years ago she got involved in our rotary Guatemala project and then last year was instrumental in kick starting our project in Africa. It is what brought her to rotary membership.
