Inspiration by Barry Cheskin -Barry shared the grit and courage of Rosa Parks. She is a nationally recognized symbol for the civil rights movement.  
 
Rotary Foundation update by Marty Fishman shared a video about the impact of the foundation and reminded all about the Anonymous Donor Match. 
  • Donor will match 0.50cents for every one dollar over last years total. 
  • If this years total reaches $100,000,an additional $25,000 will be contributed by our Anonymous Donor

Events

New Oak Grove in Live Oak Park– Adam Mayer , Rotarian  “We wanted to create a space that not only commemorated the town and the Rotary Club, but (gave) users of the park just a place where they can sit on a bench and have a quiet, reflective time or read a book,” he told San José Spotlight.
Bike rodeo –needed one more volunteer,  Greg Gentile volunteered his support
 
Doug offered a dozen of his wife’s amazing chocolate cookies for a  $50 donation to the club

International Club visit - Jean Marc 
Jean Marc shared his visit to the Budapest Rotary Club of Academica. The meeting provided wonderful dining and a presentation by the president of his multiweek RV trip to the USA. Barrer of Budapest shared with the club and presented to the LG Rotary Club.

Tom Boyce shared the Nxawe Primary School Rachel Project to provide internet services to rural South Africa. With support from the rotary and the Boyce family, technology was provided. RACHEL (Remote Area Community Hotspot for Education and Learning) portable, battery powered devices changed learning for these students.

Speaker – Sal Pizarro

Sal shared his background as a San Jose Native and his early exposure to reporting. He attended SJSU and is a graduate of UC Santa Barbara. Sal works at the Mercury News as a Bay Area NewsGroup columnist a role he has held since 2005.
