Meeting Notes from Oct 30, 2018

Ed S. led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Dick C. introduced guests. There were no visiting Rotarians. Other guests included Lloyd R. (guest of Tina O.), Don M. (guest of Gae L.), Cerina S. (guest of AnnMarie V.), Diane B. (guest of Wes S.), and  Mindy M. (guest of Nicholas W.).

Andrew H. showed an inspirational video from the Rotary Foundation.

Amy P. shared that the Interact Club had an ad in the Los Gatos High School football magazine.

Andrew H. announced that a free viewing of the movie, End Game, will take place tonight (October 30th) at 6:30 at Hospice of the Valley in San Jose.

Erik B. was presented with his Red Badge.
 

There were the following 20 for 20s or Bell Ringers - Gordon L. to support St. Luke’s Outreach, Judy R. for Julian's 80th birthday, another member in honor of the birth of his 6th grandchild, Ron K. for Richard Smart - a Los Gatos High graduate, Michelle M. for a Stanford Blood Drive hosted by Haryl Pascal, and Tina O. for her trip to Oktoberfest in Munich.

Tina O. reminded everyone to buy their tickets for the President’s Brunch taking place on Dec 2nd.

Lisa C. showed video of the Fisher House Dinner sponsored by the club on October 26th.

Andrew H. went around the room for 20-20 participants in recognition of the LA Dodgers losing the World Series. Various members partook.

Andrew H. announced that First Thursday will be on November 1st at Viva Los Gatos from 6-9pm.


Amy P. introduced today's speaker, Jabali Smith. Jabali is a trafficking survivor and author of the book, “SLAVE: A Human Trafficking Survivor Finds Life”. Jabali is also the Founder and Executive Director of the Well Child Foundation. If you are looking to purchase his book you can do so at your local bookstore or online on Amazon.com

Before closing the meeting, Andrew H. reminded the club that this Saturday, November 3rd at 11am, the Town of Los Gatos will be erecting a bench in Oak Meadow Park in memory of recently passed Los Gatos Rotarian, Don Callahan.
